Cemetery Veteran Marker Project!

Posted by on Jan 21, 2012 in Community Service, Events | 0 comments

In 2011 Tom and JoAnn Berry were visiting their late son Chris’s grave at Lakeside Cemetery. They noticed that the red, white, and blue markers placed at veteran grave sites were in poor condition.  Over time these markers had become worn and damaged and in need of repair.  About half of them are repairable but many need to be completely redone. On Veteran’s and Memorial Day, the local VFW chapter provides flags and the Junior ROTC places the flags in the markers.   Tom and JoAnn were moved that this problem existed and they approached the local VFW and asked if they could...

We were very exited to learn that Lt. Gov. Joe Garcia is coming to Fremont County to be our key note speaker this February 25 at our annual FDR dinner.   I was tasked with the job of preparing a press release for the FDR dinner and as part of that task I learned a bit about Lt. Gov. Joe Garcia.   I knew he was past president of CSU in Pueblo and interested in education but I now know he isn’t just interested in education, he has a passion for it….and he has a passion for community service. Lt. Gov. Joe Garcia has always had a passion for education.  Before he became our 48th...

Occupy the Courts will be a one day occupation of Federal courthouses across the country, including the U.S. Supreme Court in Washington, D.C., on Friday January 20, 2012. We will lead the charge on the judiciary which created — and continues to expand — corporate person-hood rights. Americans across the country are on the march, and they are marching OUR way. They carry signs that say, “Corporations are NOT people! Money is NOT Speech!” And they are chanting those truths at the top of their lungs! The time has come to make these truths evident to the courts. United States Court of...
